Middle Class Guilt are playing at Nice N Sleazy in Glasgow on May 7th 2026 to celebrate the launch of their upcoming album 'Their King of Comedy' and to kick off their UK tour. Support from Smuj (Newcastle) and Normal Service.
On 'Their King of Comedy', MCG lead you on a sonic journey, taking in various genres, textures, and sounds. There is, however, another journey: this is one of the spirit. On it you will encounter the spectrum of human emotion: fear, courage, despair, hope, sadness, joy, and so on & so on. All you have to do is pay attention, pay £8, and it's yours... LIVE
Smuj build from fragments of no wave static, punk insistence, new wave shimmer-scraps welded into something raw and deliberate. This is no comeback, no tribute. It's invention scraped from memory-punk grit, new wave.
After several years of fervent activity in Glasgow's underground music scene, Normal Service have a settled line-up, comprising erstwhile and current members of Lung Leg, Ganger, Sound of Yell and Gag. The female rhythm section provides the backing for the interlocked guitars, saxophone bursts, and melodious flute. If you marry post-punk motorik beats with off-kilter jazz-tinged folk math rock, you will arrive at their unique blend of skronk wonk and roll. Normal Service have been said to have everything in their mix from Amon Dull, Captain Beefheart, Fairport Convention, Josef K, Television and Henry Cow. They have just released their first EP 'A Song for Swinging Lovers', a rhapsodic folk infused gallows tale on their own Raljex Records.
