About

After our sold-out sessions with Patrick Forge and Jamz Supernova, Brighton Sundae is back for another daytime session of audio indulgence. And leading the party, it’s the return of the one and only Russ Dewbury!

Russ needs no introduction to a Brighton crowd. The original tune selector, he created The Jazz Rooms in the late 80’s which went on to become the longest running club session in the world, as well as Soulful Strut which ran for over a decade at the Green Door Store. Over the years he’s worked with Gilles Peterson and Mr Bongo records, managed Terry Callier and supported Al Green and Manu Chao in front of 40,000 fans in Sydney.

His legendary Jazz Bop events saw him bring some incredible names to perform in Brighton, including Art Blakey, Pharaoh Sanders, Jamiroquai, Tony Allen, Cinematic Orchestra, Roy Ayers, Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Roots and many more. The Jazz Bop’s eclectic line ups and incredible vibes are rightly acknowledged as a huge influence on today’s festival culture and over the years we’ve loved dancing to Russ’s selections at places like the Spiegeltent, Love Supreme and of course he was our first ever Brighton Sundae guest DJ back in 2024, where he led a packed out dancefloor through jazz, funk, soul and even some raggae and drum n bass vibes.

Mr Dan has built a solid reputation over many years in Brighton with residencies at The Jolly Brewer and The Great Eastern. His love of Afrobeat and soul is always a joy on the Brighton Sundae dancefloor. D-Novo is Sundae’s most eclectic selecter, equally at home dropping late night electronica as playing afternoon jazz-funk.

Expect to hear everything from obscure broken beat to Latin disco, weird remixes of old classics and some dirty basslines. Expect fantastic sound, a lovely mixed crowd and above all, joyful vibes. We'll be out on the terrace with the sunshine tunes in if the sun is shining.

See you on the floor!
