About

Have you ever wondered if a psychedelic experience could affect your sex and love life, or even hold the key to transformative couples therapy? Emerging research from Imperial College London suggests that psychedelics could indeed enhance partner communication, self-satisfaction, and sexual pleasure. Other studies have shown the promising role of MDMA in couples therapy.

In this eye-opening talk, you'll explore how these so-called 'love drugs' could serve as the next frontier for couples therapy, opening up new avenues of connection and mutual understanding. Beyond the tantalising possibilities, we will also engage in a thoughtful exploration of the ethics and considerations of using pharmacological interventions to influence something as complex and profound as love.

Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

Tommaso Barba is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Psychedelic Research, Imperial College London. Tommaso's research is focused on understanding the brain effects of short-acting psychedelics, like 5-MeO-DMT, and the potential role of psychedelic drugs for wellbeing. Tommaso is particularly interested in the effects of psychedelics and MDMA on romantic love and couples’ intimacy, believing that these drugs hold potential for improving couples' connection when administered in the right settings, like couples therapy. He has a background in neuroscience and psychoanalysis.
