About

THE SECRET COMEDY CLUB AT ARTISTA: BRIGHTON & HOVE'S PREMIER INTIMATE COMEDY VENUE

Welcome to Brighton & Hove's best small comedy club, winner of the Audience Choice Award for Best Fringe Venue, located at Artista. As the only comedy club in Brighton operating every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, we offer a safer and friendlier alternative to larger venues.

LINEUP

The brilliant MC Martin Warren will be joined by headliner Dane Baptiste, supported by comics Peter Jones and Bella Humphries.

Dane Baptiste has had a decade of dominance as a trailblazer, innovator and incendiary voice in the comedy community. The last 10 years of Dane’s career have come with a number of personal and industry milestones. In 2014, Dane was nominated for Best Newcomer at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it turns out he was the first Black British comic to ever be nominated. This lead to Dane creating, writing and starring in ‘SunnyD’ on BBC Three, the first sitcom written by a black British writer with a Black British cast to appear on the BBC in over 20 years. The show was purchased by Lionsgate, with the intention of remaking an American version of the show under the auspices of ‘Scary Movie’ creator Keenan Ivory Wayans. Dane went on to amass a number of TV and Radio credits, including appearing on and hosting Live At The Apollo in 2015 and 2017 respectively, whilst also appearing on a wide variety of recognised comedy TV shows, including 8 out 10 Cats, Countdown, Mock the Week and Comic Relief to name a few.

Peter Jones is a stand-up comedian from Australia now based in London. In his first year of living in the UK he won the final of the 2023 Beat the Frog World Series. Taking home the trophy, the glory and a novelty cheque that for twenty-four hours he really thought he had to take to a bank. Peter has performed stand-up on the TV series Comedy Up Late (ABC), appeared in Why Are You Like This? (Netflix), and has written for a bunch of TV shows in Australia that won’t mean anything to you if you haven’t lived there, including: The Project (Channel 10), The Weekly (ABC) and for the one week Narrow World Of Sports (FOX Sports) existed before everything was shut down back in 2020. He’s also twice been a RAW Comedy state finalist, and was named by the Herald Sun as one of the New Faces To Watch for his debut show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Bella Humphries is a fast-rising comedic voice whose work blends sharp writing with a warm, offbeat performance style. She has supported Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Harriet Kemsley on tour, contributed material to BBC Radio Wales, appeared at festivals and clubs including Machynlleth, Green Man, Just The Tonic and Backyard Comedy Club, and even co-ran a sell-out comedy night—all while breaking into paid gigs across the UK. Her radio feature Bleeding Hell, which she wrote and presented, debuted in 2023 and has been renewed for a two-part second series airing in 2025. Now based in Cardiff, Bella recently brought her first full hour to the Edinburgh Fringe, earning nominations for the Edinburgh ISH Awards Best Newcomer, Buxton Fringe’s Best Comedy Show, and the Women in Comedy Festival’s Best Show Award.

Martin Warren is an audience favourite - quick witted, joyful and chatty. Martin is a resident MC at The Secret Comedy Club, and was a Semi Finalist in the Komedia New Comedy Awards.
