Smoove & Turrell area British funk and soul group from Gateshead in the North East of England, widely recognized for their signature brand of "Northern Funk". Formed in 2009 by DJ/producer Smoove (Jonathan Scott Watson) and vocalist John Turrell, the band blends elements of soul, funk, northern soul, hip-hop, and electronica with socially conscious lyrics about working-class life.
