We are excited to welcome the talented Linos Wengara to The Hub on 11th April!
As leader of Zimbaremabwe Band, Linos showcases his versatility through performances ranging from traditional acoustic sets to dynamic electric band shows. A highly respected Mbira teacher, he has shared his expertise at prestigious institutions including SOAS and Goldsmiths University, guiding students in Chimurenga ensemble performances. Alongside higher education, Linos and the band run workshops for all ages in schools and colleges, and promote Zimbabwean cultural heritage in the UK through Mbira crafting and educational resources. His work fosters appreciation for Zimbabwean music, spirituality, and culture.
Zimbaremabwe performs in two styles: DZAVADZIMU, an authentic acoustic set featuring Mbira, Hosho, Ngoma, and powerful spiritual vocals; and CHIMURENGA, a full-band style blending traditional instruments with guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards-a modern sound pioneered by Dr. Thomas Mapfumo in the 1970s that bridges tradition and contemporary music.
