We are welcoming the incredible Blowing My Own Trumpet to The Hub. Blowing My Own Trumpet is more than a band - it's a musical family united by a shared passion for rhythm, storytelling, and connection. Led by Claude Lamon, the project began as a heartfelt father-daughter collaboration with Josephine Lamon, gradually growing into a vibrant collective featuring Mattie James, Joe Dostal, Ian Saunders / Steve Crossen, and more recently Kat Blockley, Doug Lander, and Owen Marriott.
Since their debut EP Dreams in 2018, Blowing My Own Trumpet has continued to evolve, following up with the full-length album Umsindo - a rich and evocative body of work whose title means "sound" or "noise" in Zulu. Their music defies boundaries, weaving together African folk, jazz, pop, and Latin influences into a sound that feels both global and deeply personal.
Tracks like Moving Train, Strange Winds, and Surfing Waves carry echoes of the band's roots in southwest England, while Umsindo takes listeners on a heartfelt musical journey that celebrates and longs for Africa. Despite being UK-based, songs such as Calling Me Home reveal their enduring connection to the continent - a love letter to heritage, place, and identity.
With every performance, Blowing My Own Trumpet invites audiences into their world of warmth, rhythm, and reflection. A collaboration with them promises not only great music but a genuine creative connection - music that resonates deeply and lingers long after the final.
