Last chance to dance: five huge events happening this weekend

Here are the best last-minute events you can attend this weekend.

Date published: 5th Jan 2024

It is the first weekend of 2024! And whilst things may be a little quieter than usual as people gear up for another year, we have some dancefloors that are ready to welcome you with open arms. Below we have events across the UK with some incredible names playing, make this first weekend a good one.

Kool Fm: The Residency (Week 1)

When: Friday 5th January

Where: XOYO, London

The first week of Kool FM's XOYO residency starts this weekend. They will be at the venue every weekend of January, bringing different names down to the basement space meaning that it'll never be the same experience. To kick things off Harriet Jaxxon, Voltage and DJ Brockie will be playing.

Mama Roux's Saturday - Dirty Discotheque

When: Saturday 6th January

Where: Mama Roux's, Birmingham

Mama Roux's Dirty Discotheque is back for 2024, promising you more thrills than ever before. Three rooms of music will include live bands, DJs, performers and burlesque. Whichever corner you find yourself in, you'll be having an amazing time.

Rave Revival Bristol

When: Saturday 6th January

Where: Basement 45, Bristol

Down in Basement 45 this weekend you'll be stuck in a time loop all the way back to the early 90s when rave culture was in its prime. You can expect Acid House and rave classics as well as some modern tunes from the genres to keep that dancefloor going all night.

Joshua Brooks Presents Biianco

When: Friday 5th January

Where: Joshua Brooks, Manchester

How about some new music discovery to kick off 2024? Biianco is an upcoming electronic artist who will be playing at Joshua Brooks. It will be their debut in Manchester after originally picking up hype in 2022. Compared to The Chemical Brothers and playing a mixture of acid, breaks and trance, you'll be in good hands here.

Tribal Life

When: Saturday 6th January

Where: Ministry of Sound, London

Head down to Ministry of Sound this weekend if you want to experience Tribal Life, a night that brings you Amapiano and Afrobeats. With a line-up packed with names such as Spidey G, Supa D and Rampage Sound, there will be a huge range of sounds for you to enjoy.
