Review of Hit the North 2019

Overall rating: 4.5 Verified review

Really enjoyed my 3rd Hit the North but thought that the smaller acts and venues lost out by removing the 'Meet the North' element on the Saturday that was so successful last year. This left far too many bands and far too many venues for smaller, local acts to compete with big name headliners on the Sunday, particularly late on during the headline period. With the fest now being just a 1 day event I was surprised to be paying the same amount as I did for both days last year but, to be fair, at only 40 odd quid it still represented very good value for money. Line up wise, I thought the choice of two solo singer songwriters in the main headline slots at O2 was a bit strange but I guess their popularity would have paid off with a packed house for each; personally I was elsewhere watching Blaenavon dish up another belting set in the Boilershop. So, not perfect, and didn't quite hit the heights of the 2 previous years where 2017 had the better line up and 2018 had the better format, however, still a cracking day of music! Roll on next year! =)
