Review of Bestival 2017
Such a great time this year, and love the new format, and the a lot easier to get to venue. The most fun I've had at a Bestival yet. Thank you.
Bestival was live , get SA ROC booked for next year and it will be ahead of its game , the security were great . I like female singers on big stages like What Kate Nash brought to Board masters with her big girl band, so was lacking that vibe , so not on all pulses of what's trending, girl powers the thing festivals seem to forget is trending a lot in western culture for good reasons so be nice if fields got behind it more too
Bestival 2017 was honestly one of the best weekends of my life. Amazing atmosphere, lovely staff, a brilliant site, and an all-round magical experience. I would never hesitate to recommend the festival to anyone and I will definitely be back next year. Only downsides were the arena getting closed due to weather and a couple of acts not turning up (c'mon - Wiley!?)
Absolutely brilliant, everyone was so nice, music was incredible and the site was great.
Only downfall was the site being shut down due to the weather but it was pretty quickly fixed.
Amazing time overall!
Super Good music wise, lots of variety and I saw most of what I wanted. Toilets were a state though, people were queuing about 30 people long just to use the one clean toilet in the block. apart from that and the rain, it was top notch.
Pretty sick events
Generally good, But...seems to have lost a lot of the randomness and quirky stuff that was always at bestival Lot smaller than old site on IOW . Stewards in Campervan field had no clue.
Review of Bestival 2016
As a regular Bestival attendee, this year was not a vintage year for music but it made it easier for me to explore areas of the festival (such as DiscoShed and the Amphitheatre) I may otherwise have overlooked if the line up on the Main Stage and Big Top had been a lot stronger. Spent a lot more time at the (Space)Port and liked the fact it had moved to the bottom of the hill. Standouts for me (in no particular order) were *****faced Shakespeare, The Cure, Fatherson, Jagwar Ma (although the bassist was not actually playing the bass!), Human League, Jaguar Skills, DJ Yoda and as always The Cuban Brothers gave a stellar performance.
Looking beyond the music:
Getting in was a nightmare, it took us 5 hours to get through the security and wristband area. I have no issue with security checks but it would have been easier if the railing was solid from the back of the queue to the front, we had two bottlenecks caused by the fact the railing was intermittent.
Campsite areas were as good as one would expect, great to see more space for more punters - shame some of our neig*bours were extremely messy.
Toilet facilities were appalling, we started with no urinals on Thursday and by Sunday, every urinal you went to was literally overflowing and where were the compost loos?
Food options - nowhere near as good as in previous years, in the campsites the options were limited and in the arena it was not much better.
Other observations - Bestival needs to do more to deal with the drugs being openly pushed at the event, there were 4 or 5 times a day when we were approached by people (with Access All Areas badges in some cases) offering us NOS, **t and a whole host of other drug options. Whilst your checks on the punters undoubtedly yielded good results, drugs are clearly still getting in to the festival by other means.
I'm in two minds about attending next year but would not discourage others from doing so, Bestival just needs to get its Mojo back.
Amazing festival, great music good mix
Good fun, but awful organisation, terrible security, average line up and a diabolical entry queue completely sullied a lot of it.
Also, what the hell was up with the crap wristbands?
Daft Punk and Will Smith next year, yeah?
Bestival - the craziest, best festival I've been to!
Bestival is such a great festival, its so unique and fun and the fancy dress just adds to the atmosphere. Great bands and fun times to be had.
