About

Blowing My Own Trumpet is more than a band – it’s a musical family united by a shared passion for rhythm, storytelling, and connection Led by South African born trumpeter Claude Lamon, the project began as a heartfelt father-daughter collaboration, gradually growing into a vibrant collective
Since their debut EP Dreams in 2018, Blowing My Own Trumpet has continued to evolve, following up with the full-length album Umsindo – a rich and evocative body of work whose title means “sound” or “noise” in Zulu. Their music defies boundaries, weaving together African folk, jazz, pop, and Latin influences into a sound that feels both global and deeply personal.
Tracks like Scottish man and Strange Winds, echoes of the band’s roots in southwest England, while Umsindo takes listeners on a heartfelt musical journey that celebrates and longs. Despite being UK-based, songs such as Calling Me Home reveal their enduring connection to the continent – a love letter to heritage, place, and identity.
With every performance, Blowing My Own Trumpet invites audiences into their world of warmth, rhythm, and reflection. A collaboration with them promises not only great music but a genuine creative connection – music that resonates deeply and lingers long after the final.  We will be supported by Zimbabwean Tafara Chakanesta
