Event 7.0 of Season 3.0
Hinako Omori is a Japanese composer, musician, and producer based in London. She creates immersive soundscapes using ambient synths, vocals, and classical arrangements, often with binaural or multi-channel techniques. Her music is layered like a painting or weaving, inviting listeners to turn inward and reflect.
Omori’s lush textures and many-layered approach to composition have garnered her critical acclaim and radio play across BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, 3 & 4, KEXP and NTS. She has been covered in features and reviews in Pitchfork, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Crack Magazine, Clash Magazine, Sound On Sound, Composer Magazine, The Vinyl Factory and elsewhere.
As a versatile pianist, synthesist and producer, Omori is involved in multiple collaborations at any one time. She performed with a 60-piece orchestra for BBC Radio 3’s Unclassified Live, and in 2024 joined Floating Points’ ensemble at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles to perform Promises, his collaborative album with the late Pharoah Sanders.
Omori is also a member of Will Gregory’s Moog Ensemble, performing composed material and repertoire from electronic music icons such as Wendy Carlos and John Carpenter, alongside the music of classical composers arranged for synthesizers.
She has also toured internationally and collaborated in the studio with artists including Utada Hikaru, Kae Tempest, Shabaka, Ed O’Brien (EOB), Georgia, Grian Chatten and Sophie Hunger.
