Weedipus are a Grunge/Shoegaze rock band from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, formed during the first lockdown of 2020 by Zach and Liv. With Olivia Thawley’s distinctive vocals and members of local favourites Regional Creeps in the line-up, Weedipus craft hazy, emotionally rich lo-fi anthems with a DIY heart.

Their debut EP Demo Tape — mixed by Andrey Pavlovic (Allusinlove) — earned early praise from BBC Introducing’s Christian Carlisle and Louder Than War, who called lead single Places to Go “a catchy, cool and suitably out-of-focus introduction to a promising new band.”

Since then, Weedipus have steadily carved out a space in the UK’s alt scene through a string of intimate and explosive live performances. They’ve played standout sets at Tramlines Festival, Get Together, Long Division, and Green Man Rising, supported acts like The Subways, Bdrmm, and Zuzu, and sold out headline shows across Yorkshire.

Recent singles have marked a clear evolution in sound — from the introspective shimmer of Keep on Guessing to the anthemic new single Small Talk, which was named Track of the Week on BBC Introducing. These releases have built momentum toward their long-awaited debut album, set for release in February 2026.

Winners of Elephant Arch Records’ Artist Call Out, and featured in a live session for Popp! Tones, Weedipus continue to balance raw vulnerability with shimmering, fuzzed-out textures — delivering a sound that feels both nostalgic and fresh. With more music and live shows on the horizon, this five-piece are quietly becoming one of the most exciting bands in the UK underground.
