Biography

Sal & Pops performed alongside each other in the Shakespearean theatre ‘The New Vic’ from 2009 onwards. Their friendship grew when they joined The “Jill Clewes Academy of Theatre Arts”. At college they were often paired together in shows because of their similar performance style and connection. They were often described as the female versions of Ant and Dec. After graduating college they furthered their studies in Musical Theatre at separate Universities. However, being apart for 3 years they realised that they wanted to join forces doing something unique and different to what they had been studying.

Sal was raised on so much music from Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues to Motown and Northern Soul. Her mum had such an influence on her music taste due to being the president of The Official Elvis Presley Fan Club of Great Britain alongside Todd Slaughter. She travelled America countless times with the fan club. Northern Soul however, really captured Sallys attention when she was 19 and studying away from home. She began to listen to it religiously. Quoting “some people hear it but i just feel it”

Pops has always been a free spirit when it comes to expressing herself to any music. But SHE had never heard of Northern Soul until Sal introduced it to her in 2016. Pops couldn’t help but wonder where and why this genre of music had been hidden all these years, she began to research and it’s safe to say she became obsessed with the music too. Quoting “I connected to it straight away and it freed my soul”

The instantaneous connection they both feel for this music only made them realise that they wanted to spread it to people who had never heard it before. That is when Passion and the Veins began. Northern Soul all-nighters at The kings hall, Stoke on Trent became a regular night out for them. Shortly after attending one of the all-nighters some footage of them dancing went viral on Facebook. Which lead to them onto setting up a YouTube channel of them dancing to Northern Soul music.

Since 2017 the girls haven’t stopped working and have achieved some of the following: • Filmed and Edited over 30 Youtube Videos • Over 2.5 million views and over 15k subscribers on YouTube • Released first EP with John Aldersea a local music producer on the Famous Radio Caroline ship. • They joined some professional local musicians November 2018 headlining over 20 music venues, charity events were the house band BBC Radio Stoke for Music Day. • Now we have released WHAT IF and TRY MY LOVE and our latest records- I SURRENDER & I KISSED A GIRL with The Northern Soul Orchestra, from Sweden Stockholm.
