I’m Lauren Thompson, DJ, and my role in the music industry is to tell a story through music to people on the dancefloor and hopefully make them move and touch their soul.
East London’s Lauren Thompson is a DJ who effortlessly blends uplifting house, disco and boogie and has already shared stages with names as illsutrious as Ron Trent, Louie Vega and Dave Lee.
I love all genres of music and I grew up listening to a very wide spectrum. My influences come mainly from my parents, with my mum a big fan of Bobby Womack, Barry White and Luther Vandross and my dad, who was into reggae to rock including John Holt, Dennis Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads and Billy Idol. Music for me has to depend on the type of mood I’m in as to what I’m listening to.
The music I play now has changed quite recently as a few years ago I was playing more nu-disco but now there’s a very heavy soulful house influence alongside disco.
