SFF

First time to SFF for me,my husband,my teenage son & my 8 year old daughter. The bands on Saturday suited teenagers (loved Athlete though & was quite happy sitting in the sun listening & drinking) whilst Sunday was my highlight - didn't want to leave (you missed a great day on Sunday and the weather held out for the acoustic bands). The comedy was good but the tent was full at 4pm and security were reluctant to let anymore people in. There would have been a lot of disappointed people if everyone had stayed! Had a great time but you could do without the expensive noisy fair rides ( so rude whilst people are performing) and lay on other activities. Dave's diner and the pizza stall were great but the other food was overpriced. A certain other small festival I have been to had much cheaper great food & drink & had 3 mixed days of music to suit all tastes on 3 stages playing at the same time. Thanks so much for a brilliant weekend. The line up would have to improve for me to return but my son will probably come back with his mates soon.

Maximo Park?!?! Really?!?!

This was our second year at Shrewsbury Fields. Once again, the atmosphere was fabulous and it was great seeing people we met last year there again. Unfortunately, it was held later this year and the weather didn't hold out. Now I know this isn't anything to do with the organizer, but we did leave on Sunday although we planned to stay until Monday because of it. The bloke charging phones near the campsite this was great, as last year it was in the arena, which was a ballache as you had to wait until the gates opened to charge anything. The 'quiet camping' zone was a complete joke! The comedy on Sunday, however, was TOP!! Dylan Moran was a class act! However, the bands this year weren't great... Maximo Park should not have been headlining. The 1975 and Athlete were far superior. I do wonder why SFF organizers even bothered asking what we thought last year if they took very little, if anything on. Nevertheless, we will more than likely be back again next year.

Another top year

My second year taking my daughter,, Amazing, /such a warm friendly atmosphere, great bands, dance tents, and fair ground, will be going again next year, Defiantly value for money :)

Shrewsbury Fields Forever

First time at the festival had a brilliant weekend. Though left on the Sunday which was more to do with the weather than the event. Relaxed atmosphere, security were nice and friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again next year. Bonus that there were actual toilets but could have done with more toilets in the arena was a bit of trek to them. Didn't manage to find showers though. Plus drinks reasonably priced too unlike other festivals.

Fantastic

First time for me my wife and our 8 year old son at Shrewsbury Fields. We had a fantastic day and the atmosphere was brilliant. Very family friendly and will definitely return next year.

amazing!!!

This is our second year at Shrewsbury Fields. It is amazing with some great bands, a great atmosphere and it's am having value for money. Aldo the facilities aren't bad. There's a toilet block woohoo!!

Some people expect the world!

It appears only people who complain seem to leave a review! Not sure why people expect the world when they pay very little for an event. The music line up and quality was brilliant, just going to see a couple of these acts in a standalone concert would cost more - but yet at Fields forever we had 3 days of acts! Yes the toilets this year got bad, but spotless the previous and if you are going to camp next door to some excitable teenagers then i would expect to hear some noise! I mean how can you tell people to shut up and go to bed after partying all day? Ill be going to 2013 I had a great time and its just down the road from me so an added bonus!

Shocking event

We were told over the phone that there was family camping available but when we got there we were told that there was no family camping. The teenagers all took over the site and ruined all the people who actually had brain cells weekend. There was hardly no security on site and so it was like a war site.
The prices are too high for the way this festival is run. The promoter should not be allowed to open any more events ever again and should refund all the families who went with a broken promise of family camping

Shrewsbury Fields

I was most disappointed. After a very long journey the staff at the entrance were very ill informed, not well equipped and drunk. After some time and negotiations we managed to get in about 9pm The field for camping was totally full up and myself and two other vans were directed to a drive way where we were supposed to camp. The following morning after a terrible night with young under age drunken louts banging on my van and generally misbehaving. Later having inspected the shower & toilet facilities which were disgusting and un-useable . Also when I attempted to get directions to where we could finally camp we were told that where we spent the previous night would have to do whereupon I promptly left the site. I would like to say the Skiddle are usually very good and I would appreciate their comments and maybe a complimentry ticket to another festival.

Such a shame

Great music, discovered some great new acts. Loved the chill out Sunday. Laughed till I cried at the comedy. BUT when there is no security stopping a group from intentionally keeping everyone awake on the campsites and the toilets are ten times worse than anything experienced at Glastonbury, then you won't find me back next year sorry. Why stick up signs asking ladies not to flush sanitary items down the toilet then not provide adequate bins. Disgusting.

The trouble with kids...

The venue was good, albeit a bit small but it is only in its second year. The campsite was awash with middle class teenagers whose mummy had obviously trusted to their first festival. The noise from these kids was unbelievable and continual. Security should have stepped in at some point and put them to bed. Apart from this festival was v. good but i would not return unless there was a seperate field for normal people who sleep!! Oh and could of done with cleaning the site more often, a top tip is to give the campers bin liners and they will tend to do it themselves

Never again

Camped in the tiny camping field and this was dominated by teenagers - such a small venue that no family or quiet camping was available - definitely NOT family friendly as teenagers kept up a shouted conversations about their banal lives all night, also lots of music etc and no consideration for anyone wanting to sleep in campsite! These kids were quite open about the fact that they were not intending to see any acts - just here to 'get pissed'. Actually they did not leave the campsite.
For such a small festival the bands etc were great, saw a fab local band and enjoyed the entertainment - but would not recommend or return as this is clearly a mecca for spoilt teen brats to get out of earshot from their parents.

over all a good weekend shame that chase n status didnt turn up!!!! but think every one knew this was going to happen, great that you could take your own beer in much cheaper option!!!! the bands were ok sunshine underground were pure class!! i thought anyway.
needs more advertisment and bigger and better crowds next year if poss think the organisers need to try and get some bigger acts x

We really enjoyed the festival overall once we overcame our disappointment at Chase n Status' cancellation.
More fair rides would be good, waltzers would have been a welcome addition to the fair and maybe a sidestall or 2 ie; firing range, win a goldfish etc.
A programme or the set list being available on the internet is a must next year to enable people to plan their itinery.
The poppers stall/oxygen bar was a good call!
The Charlatans and The Sunshine Underground were excellent as was the overall standard of music. An encore from The Charlatans would have been a bonus!Loved Lisa Pin-Up, that girl still has it!
Toilets were kept clean and plenty of them, drinks were a little pricey but nowhere near what you would pay at bigger festivals.
The 2nd dance arena (village hall type place) wasn't clearly marked and the lack of lighting didn't give it much of an atmosphere (you could have closed the curtains!)

On the whole we had a great day, the weather held out, the people were friendly.....Roll on next year.......

No People = No Atmosphere

Every seems to have noticed the severe lack in bodies but all down to the organisers I think!!
Put it this way I bought ETickets for the event.. On arrival I informed the security that I needed to pick up my ETickets to which they had no idea they existed!!! We waited around for 10mins while organisers and security argued abit then I was handed 3 weekend & camping wristbands with no identification required!!! I think this set the tone for the event!!! Must say Charltons where very good!! And the boxing / I've got me top off so i must be really hard match that went on outside the dance tent provided great comical value!!!
All in all we had a laugh.. Saturday night with I think 3 of the funniest girls I've met in my life!! "Tash you and your mates where hilarious"

Shrewsbury Fields Forever

With the others on the lack of people..... etc... Was talking to a steward on the Sunday night and she said there was a lack of advertisment for this event. I bought tickets for the Sunday night to see Krafty Kuts. I found out about this festival from his website. I live near Nantwich and everyone I talked to knew nothing about this event going on 30 minutes away.
The venue was in a great spot, really accessible from the town where we parked as we thought it would be difficult to leave with all the people (guessed wrong). Too bad really.
I enjoyed the music and added a couple of new bands to my music list....
Hopefully next year will improve.
