CurtisShelton Wannabe Offline Points:14 Posts: 1	CurtisShelton's Review of The Popes in Concert at Clun Memorial Hall Preety good, tight band, bassist held it together, more Irish rock than punk as there were some more anthemic tunes, but was'nt too fussed about that, I'm old enough to remember all the old punk tunes first time around but love lots of diverse stuff. Vocals ok but not the strength of the band. Had a good time and a bop, but if it was meant to be Irish punk then it was a bit tame and more mayhem was needed....anarchy!!?

The only thing that worries me is that time cannot stop and these fellows although professionals cannot carry on forever. My advice is if they come to a venue near yo soon.....see em, you may regret it if you let the moment pass! Ace night out!

effiebee Wannabe Offline Points:22 Posts: 1	effiebee's Review of The Popes in Concert at Clun Memorial Hall Overall rating: 4 Really enjoyed this - despite a surprisingly small crowd (£15 a ticket may have had something to do with that - that's a lot of money for a gig in a village hall) the band gave it everything. As a long-standing Pogues fan I wasn't sure quite what to expect but the music was great, I haven't danced so much for years.
