The Clove Hitch

Located between the Philharmonic Hall and The Everyman Theatre, The Clove Hitch opened it's doors to the public on 18th August 2010. Since then, we are pleased to say that we have had plenty of very positive feedback about the venue, the staff, the drinks range, the prices and particularly, the quality of food. The restaurant is the first venture of co-owners Joe Highdale and Rob Tuffnell who, after working a combined 26 years in the food and drink industry for companies such as Mitchells and Butlers, Scottish and Newcastle and The University of Liverpool, decided it was time to put their own unique stamp on the diners and drinkers of Liverpool. After taking over the former El Macho site, the pair donned their scruffs and, along with help from friends and family, started out on a 15 hour a day, 10 week renovation job to transform it in to the type of establishment they would like to frequent themselves. The philosophy was simple - friendly, professional staff, a unique and carefully selected range of drinks, a relaxed atmosphere and most importantly, freshly made, locally sourced, honest cuisine. And all this within a price range that would appeal to all and make the other restauranters of Hope Street sit up and take notice.
