I'm still buzzin from the weekend & totally loved it. I know the weather wasn't great on the Friday but this was out of anyones control! Food & booze was lovely, music was great, atmosphere brilliant. It would have been even better if those who committed to helping didn't let the organisers down at the last minute!!! Overall rating: I thought the festival was amazing, considering the awful weather and the fact it was a first endeavour for Ravenstonedale 2009 I think they pulled it off really well. I thought Four corners and the Moody Bakers put on lovely food etc The dance tent was really good, I lasted two nights in the dance tent and I'm normally finished off after one night...and spent the next week wishing I was still there stomping away. Even enjoyed some of the bands which isnt usualy my cup of tea.... Met loads of cool friendly people and will without a doubt be going again next year! | ||||||||||||||

hollybell Offline Points:14 Posts: 4 | Ravenstonedale 2009 Overall rating: Brilliant weekend, despite the very adverse weather conditions, everyone really made the most of it. In fact I think in a weird way it made everyone determined to party even harder through the mud, rain and wind. The location was beautiful, the food was excellent, and bands were all fantastic! I would agree that childrens entertainment was lacking, however i believe this was unavoidable. At the end of the day festivals are supposed to be about good music and atmosphere, this festival had both! Personally I think that to say the dance tent was 'thrown together to make the numbers up with chavs' is very unfair, and was clearly written by someone who spent very little time in the dance tent! The music and set up was top draw on both nights, and catered for different tastes in dance music, yeah it's not going to be everyone's taste all the time, but the atmosphere in there was ace! All in all i think the organisors did a brilliant job under difficult circumstances. Bring on next years! | ||||||||||||||

We tried for over 2 days to get the main stage built, but with weather permiting stopped us. Thanks for giving it 101% though Brian. Thanks to Nick for provinding us with the bar, and to the bakery as well as the catering. Also a thankyou to S.A.P Audio. Also big thankyou to Suzies dad for letting us use the field and pulling peeps cars out the mud, Brendan John and little Ad's for quad biking band gear and peeps around site. We have got twice the time now to plan somthing bigger and better for next year, roll on next year RAVENSTONDALE 2010. :) | ||||||||||||||

The weather definetly wasnt on our side, Its cumbria, i tried for a licence for other dates but u cant predict it, i wish i could. Theres so many festivals that its hard not to clash with any others BUT.. we did very well considering those festivals r well established and this was our first..we will try for a different w/e again next year. Due to our problems with the main stage we got off to a bad start, but all pulled together and worked very hard! I personally was disappointed for those people with children but we cldnt have a bouncy castle and bungee run in that weather, we didnt want any accidents, and the suppliers wldnt bring them for insurance reasons. The dance tent was truly amazing, lazers were ace and the sound system up there with the very best. the dj's were amazing, with all genres of dance, defo not thrown together. It was just the same as being at one of the big dance festivals!! The bands created a great atmosphere in the bar, some very telented sets. Bands came from all over and played for the crowd, chack out there myspaces, they are worth it. i loved the accoustic sets and enjoyed the funny momments with the rest of the crowd. There was a chill out tent where u cld hang out without the music, serving hot drinks, brandy coffees etc. What more can i say??? First event with no budget!! u cant please all of the people all of the time! Bigger and better nex year...but cant promise the weather. Thanks for all yr comments and support!xx | ||||||||||||||

 oharveyharvey Offline Points:10 Posts: 1 | rave review Overall rating: Yes it was wet and windy, but as a true cumbrian when isn't it. Had a wicked night on friday, rolling around in the mud. Followed by a chilled sunny day drinking brandy and coffee in the small but welcoming chill out tent. The festival seemed to battle against all the odds and proved to be a great first time event. What a great venue and part of the country and I really hope this festival will run in the future and become a great little non commercial event! Well done to all involved and massive bigups to all the musicians and DJ's. To sum it up, great atmosphere, friendly people and value for money... Ps.. any one seem a pair of trainers last spotted on fri night in a muddy bog.. Bring on next year!!! | ||||||||||||||

Really good bands on the sat afternoon and the dance tent was pumping - no holding back on the sound. There wasn't the bouncy castle on the Friday night for those with kids, I'm not sure if it was there on the Saturday though. The directions weren't clear on the poster, it didn't say on the poster to go to Greenside, I had to ask for directions in a pub in Ravenstonedale, a few other people got lost as well. There wasn't a proper fence by the river, someone could have fallen off the bridge before the floodlights were switched on. I know that there were people living nearby, but the music could have went on for longer. If this is a problem for next year, people should be informed so that they can get extra time off work to get there earlier and make the most of it. I know it was bad luck with the weather, but the dance tent wasn't very waterproof, equipment could have been damaged. Other than that I had a really good time and the portaloos were really clean. | ||||||||||||||

Nowhere to go if you get sick of listening to the band, other than sit in your tent. Very bad luck with the weather. Oh dear. I thought it might of been a bit bigger with stalls and thing for kids to do. I wouldnt recommend to it family and friends | ||||||||||||||

Organisers seemed ill prepared for bad weather although that area is renown for it. Didn't camp as had child with me who was cold, wet and bored. Shame as could have been great.
