I took my 3 kids and they enjoyed both the music and the Wee Wizard tent although there wasn't much my 12 year old could do there. He did get a turn on the drums though which he enjoyed. I would have liked more information on the webpage beforehand. For example the timings of the acts, even the day before would have helped. The map on the website was helpful but not drawn to scale so pretty useless really as I didn't realise the car park and the camping site was quite a far walk. If I'd known I would have taken less stuff! Also on arrival we arrived at the box office to be told that we were at the wrong box office. I had no idea that there were 2 box offices and as I had paid for an eticket I thought that would be easier. As it was we had to leave our stuff with the risk of it being stolen (although staff said they would keep an eye on it) and traipse up to the other box office. However once we were in and the tent was up everything went fairly smoothly. The stewards were friendly and the toilets always well stocked with loo roll. Of course there was the hurricane late Saturday night but nothing anyone could do about that! I'd recommend it to anyone. It had a nice family feel to it and felt safe for my kids. As I said the music was excellent and I was just sad that some of the acts didn't stay on the stage for longer.

I was astonished that I could not travel to the campsite the evening before the event, and then on Sunday morning (with the place looking like Hurricane Katrina had passed over it) there were these security people who not only gave no assistance at all to people who were really struggling in pretty wet, wild & windy conditions, but they were also demanding that everybody vacate the camping area by twelve midday. Its the first time I have ever heard of such nonsense. I was also camped in the family area and was disgusted to see young men who couldn't be bothered to go to the toilets and wait in a queue, urinating against the back fence just a few metres from our tent. When you consider that we paid only about a tenner less than the tickets for the Wickerman Festival, there is really no excuse (other than greed) for having no shower/washing facilities added to the obvious lack of toilet facilities. Just not good enough. Finally the idea of having James as headliners on Friday (we left less than half way though the set) when there were two bands who were very obvious headliners on Saturday, in Alabama 3 and the Happy Mondays, was a bizarre decision. I'm afraid I would NOT recommend a return until the above problems are addressed.

![]() scully Offline Points:68 Posts: 2 | Not Such a Wizard Weez Overall rating: ![]() At the start i would like to say that it was the music that attracted us to the event, however, there were some serious organisational short comings. The festival security spoiled this event for us. We have a four year old daughter who was refused entry with her fruit shoot, that was just bought at the COOP shop outside the entrance to the arena. A super efficient neo nazi (Only obeying orders)refused us access because of our purchase and made my daughter cry. I also objected to being scanned by a metal detector at the entrance as well, presumably looking for cans of beer. I suppose this was on the orders of Tennents who wanted a monopoly to sell their pish to punters. Another issue, as we are a family we were delighted that there was going to be a family area. Little did we know that the difference between the general camping and family camping was going to be a blue piece of thread! Also there was no control of who was allowed to camp in the "family" area as teams of young lads intent on having a bit of a lark were able to camp next to us. I am not suggesting that they should not have a great time at a festival but that they should have been directed to the "party" camping rather than the family camping. However, most of the stewards were asleep at the wheel and seemed more concerned with preventing people entering the arena with alcohol. Another thing that was poor was that there was no assistance from the stewards on the Sunday morning when we were trying to rescue our tent and belongings after the storm. Most just enquired about when we were going to leave and hoped that we would make the midday out time. Possibly they were not going to be paid after that time? There were very cool looking dudes driving about in quad like dumper trucks that could have assisted with helping people back to their cars with the remains of their tents etc. However, this did not happen. The Wee Wizard tent could have had more activities for the kids to do and i suggest that the organisers take a leaf out of the Wickerman Children's area. For such a small festival was it really necessary to operate a token system? Another criticism would be the choice of drinks. There should be an alternative to the domination of Tennets and to have to pay £3.00 for 500ml of their urine substitute is farnkly a scandal. We will not be back next year and i will be warning friends to avoid it like the plague. By the way we travelled from Glasgow for this event and have been at the Knockengorroch and Wickerman Festivals already this year. Both of which are far superior!
