Micron says its last goodbye with a NYE closing party ft Justin Robertson

The day is upon us. After an epic few months of closing parties, the final ever Micron is here - and they're going out with a bang, with a special New Year's Eve closing party featuring Manchester dancefloor destroyer Justin Robertson.

Having been responsible for some of the best parties Manchester has witnessed over the past five years, Micron has built up a loyal following of party goers with their  laid back and unpretentious approach to clubbing.

When Micron play their final tune in the early hours of 2012, it will be the end of an incredible five (and a bit) year adventure. From their first, jam packed night at Joshua Brooks in November 2006, the guys caught an instant vibe. After hitting every party and festival in Manchester they built residencies in London and Moscow, via DJ Mag awards ceremonies and visits to remote Russian festivals, Indian Beaches, Exit Festival and bonkers Dutch boat parties.

This is what the organisers had to say about it all:

"Some rules were agreed at Micron’s inception. Excellent music, naturally. But FUN seemed to be missing in Manchester at the time. All a bit serious. Loads of chin strokers. So we ripped the piss out of ourselves and that seemed to work. Luckily, people seemed to like that and we were immediately and consistently blessed with our very own wonderful, loyal, sexy, fun crowd. We owe them everything and we love them all."

Justin Robertson's career in dance music dates all the way back to the Madchester days when he was spinning at clubs like Spice and Most Excellent, often frequented by two lads called Tom and Ed who would later become The Chemical Brothers. Now based in London, Robertson fulfils roles as DJ, producer and lead singer of band Thee Earls.

With his eclectic, fun approach to DJing and ability to keep a dancefloor bouncing all night long, Justin is the perfect man to bring Micron to its knee trembling climax as Manchester says goodbye to what's become an institution for fun loving clubbers in the city.
