Judge Jules Talks About Creamfields & Ibiza
29th Jul 2009
Well, it’s a huge line up, it’s the biggest club in the world and it will be broadcast on air which is the 3 major factors to make it the best weekend.
Do you look forward to this as a highlight in your clubbing calendar?
Absolutely
You’ll be playing for Cream at Privilege, have you ever played there before and what can people expect if they haven’t had the chance to experience it?
Yes, not recently, but over the course of my DJ career, it’s a 10,000 capacity venue, that says it all, so if you enjoy clubbing I would definitely suggest going there.
Is this a must do experience on the Island?
I think so, if you enjoy Ibiza you want to try and visit the majority of the clubs, they’re all as good as each other, but I’d say going to Amnesia, Pacha, Space, Eden & Privilege is a must do.
You played Creamfields’ 10th Anniversary last year, how was that for you?
It was great, I did the Tidy Arena, which isn’t the sort of arena that I would generally do, because it’s a little bit harder than my style, but it was an absolutely amazing atmosphere. They had to restrict the amount of people going in and out of the tent.
As a supporter of BBC Introducing and championing new talent, what advice would you give to any DJs entering the scene?
Do anything you can, it’s not good enough being someone who has great tracks and makes good mixes to play to your mates. You’ve got to be a fantastic publicist, take on board making your own tracks, possibly promoting your own events and definitely playing the whole social networking game.
You will be joining us for Creamfields again this year. What are you most looking forward to about it?
I think the fact that Creamfields is the original dance music festival in the UK, makes it special in a way that none of the other incumbencies that arrived on the scene later can sort of provide and I think that since it moved out of Liverpool and into Warrington has improved it as an event because the more people that can stumble across it and cough up the money, they’re not necessarily devotees, whereas, when they’ve got to go to Warrington to a slightly more obscure site, then they are people that really want to be there and have made a decision to go.
What are your festival essentials?
Get the lanyard and make a plan of who you’re going to see, check the weather forecast and get a few early nights in before you go.
Which 3 acts would you choose for your ultimate festival line up?
Michael Jackson, James Brown & Bob Marley. All dead and all legends
Creamfields quote:
Creamfields got there first and is still there first.
