8th Jun 2009

   1.  You absolutely smashed it at Creamfields 10th Anniversary, are you looking forward to coming back in 2009?

Definitely, doing the 10th anniversary was one of my highlights of 2008 so I’m aiming for at least a similar result this year.

   2. You are going to be back in the Cream arena, what can fans expect from your set?

I’ve been really busy in the studio working on new tracks and remixes as well as April also going going to be a productive month so fans can expect a lot of new tried and tested stuff fresh from the studio.

   3. You had an amazing summer and teared up the Cream Ibiza Main Room, how was the experience for you?

Amazing to be honest, especially the night where I took over Paul van Dyk’s set because he was really ill and ended up playing for nearly 4 hours. I was a bit worried at first since people were obviously expecting Paul as well but the night turned out to be a big success.

   4. You will be returning once again in 2009, are you looking forward to it?

I’m actually really excited about coming back this year. If the atmosphere is going to be as good as last year, which I think it definitely will, than this could be one of my best seasons so far.

   5. What do you think it is about the Cream night that sells out Amnesia week on week?

I think Cream managed to build a very strong brand in Ibiza over the many years they have been throwing the parties over at Amnesia. That with the combination off Amnesia itself with its unique layout as well as production makes for Cream being one of the biggest nights since years.

   6. There are a lot of talented DJs from the Netherlands, do you think the country has an influence on your music?

Absolutely, The Netherlands have been a big learning ground for me going to a lot of parties myself and listening to a lot of dutch artists over the last 14 years. I think because of the huge amount of parties being thrown here for many years that a lot of people got into dance music themselves, me being one of those.

   7. Would you recommend going there for a clubbing experience?

I would actually yeah, there are a few organisations like ID&T, UDC and Awakenings that throw stunning parties throughout the year and ID&T are actually organising two Sensations this year on the Friday and Saturday which I think is going to be amazing.

   8. Identity is your Radio show on DI.FM which has been going now for 3 years, does it give you a platform to experiment with new sounds?

It does especially since we’re expanding it to a bi weekly show, 1,5 hours per show in stead of 1 hour and are syndicating it to a lot of platforms. The show now gives me even more opportunity to showcase different sounds as well having a guestmix  in the show once a month from fellow dj’s who can do their own thing as well.

   9. 2008 was a massive year for you, you launched your own TV channel selfcast.com, where you stream your own sets, how did this come about?

We got asked by selfcast to pilot a channel doing live broadcasts from different spots throughout the world. Unfortunately we couldn’t guarantee a flawless connection since in a lot of places the internet connection simply wasn’t fast enough so we decided to turn the livecast into a monthly video cast posted via my own website which we’re working on right now!

  10. You also became an ambassador for Dance4life, which inspires people to fight against HIV & AIDS, could you tell us a bit more about your involvement and what it means to you?

Before I got connected with Dance4life I supported the Aids fund already for about 12 years since aids is something that could affect all of us. Becoming involved with D4L kinda felt natural to me and started with doing the remix on Tiestos Dance4Life track a few years ago. With being ambassador at this stage I will get even more involved doing parties, etc. which I’m really looking forward to.

  11. You also scooped an award for best breakthrough artist at the IDMAs at the WMC, and a nomination for best underground Dance track for Riff?

That’s right, last year I won the breakthrough award at both the IDMAs and the Ibiza Awards which was a big honour to be honest especially with the artists being in that same category.

  12. How have you had a chance to breath?

Well 2008 has been quite a busy year for me, but with working with the right people we managed to structure it in a way that I still had a few days off as well.

  13. After such a massive year, what has 2009 got in store for you?

The year had a nice kick start with the Close My Eyes track together with Robbie Williams. That together with the plans we’ve just finalised regarding a big media expansion, a new concept combined with a lot new productions, remixes including the Killers new single and gigs already lined up I think 2009 will be a very healthy year indeed!

  14. Back to Creamfields, what advice do you have for the clubbers to keep their energy going for the full weekend?

Partying in the night, sun tanning during the day!

  15. What is the best thing about playing a festival for you?

I personally really enjoy testing out new production and getting a kick if the crowd goes crazy.

  16. What are your festival essentials?

Definitely new dj weapons fresh from the studio, sunglasses and wellies if the festival is in the UK.

  17. Finally, could you give us a quote on Creamfields.

One of my highlights of 2008, a big mark on the calendar for 2009!
