It has been announced that an upcoming festival in Leeds has become the latest casualty of the global 'credit crunch'.

The organisers of the Wax:On Live festival have revealed that they have been forced to cancel the event, which was due to take place on May 31st.

They stressed that the reason for the move had nothing to do with "poor ticket sales or lack of support and dedication" and blamed the cancellation on "the credit crunch that has the UK in the grip of an economic stranglehold".

A loss of finance meant that the Leeds festival had become "unsustainable" and added: "We send out most sincere apologies to all of you that have bought tickets."

Acts that had been lined up to perform at the inaugural event included Primal Scream, Reverend and the Makers and Hercules and Love Affair.

Fans keen to see this last act could catch them at Creamfields later in the summer. Earlier this month, the organisers of this festival added the band, along with Bugged Out and Late of the Pier to the line up.ADNFCR-1603-ID-18603138-ADNFCR
