August Bank Holiday sees Digital Society bring Sander Van Doorn to Leeds 02 Academy for a three hour set as part of the spectacular Dusk til Doorn world tour. DS caught up with the man himself for a quick chat...
Hi Sander, how’s it going? First off, where do we find you today?
Great, thanks for asking! Today I am at home for a change, but heading out for Global Gathering in Stratford Upon Avon soon!
2011 has been a great year for you so far. What have been highlights - any special gigs or events that have really stood out?
Well, so far this year, I have had some phenomenal gigs. A few that really stand out for me have been Ultra in Miami, Sensation White and also my Dusk Till Doorn nights around the world have all been great!
The second installment of your ‘Dusk Till Doorn' has been making waves in recent months - what can we expect from Sander van Doorn in 2011 and beyond, and can we look forward to any more releases in the near future?
Something I’m very excited about and the next big thing for me is my upcoming artist album called Eleve11! Watch this space!

'Doorn Recordings' has really gone from strength to strength over the years, and consistently has had great releases. Are there any exciting releases coming up?
The next release is from Ummet Ozcan, a track called ‘Reboot’. This track was also featured on my Dusk Till Doorn compilation.
Your 'Identity podcast' has played an integral part throughout your career. Can you tell us a little about this, and also how important it is in terms of becoming visible as an artist and keeping in touch with your audiences?
It’s a crucial these days to keep things fresh and upfront. Identity is on SiriusXM weekly in the US, and that reaches millions each week. It’s a great way to communicate and keep fans updated on new music, and where I have played and will be playing.
You regularly record tutorials - ‘Studio Sessions with SVD’, can you tell us more?
People are always asking me what sort of plug-ins and gear I use and how I create my sound and style in the studio. This is a way for me to share my production techniques and answer questions that I get asked a lot. On the last series, I took you through the step-by-step production of my track ‘Reach Out.’ I got a great response from it and will keep doing Studio Sessions as long as people want to know! Tune in via www.sandervandoorn.com to catch these.
You’ve been a regular candidate in the recent DJ Mag Top 100 Polls, taking the 12th ranking last year - surely it must be incredible to have such a huge fan base and so much support for what you do? Can you describe this?
Well, it’s amazing really. I have such a great fanbase and supportive team that I couldn’t be happier! It’s exciting to be recognised for all the hard work by having fans take time to vote. It means a lot to have their support.
Finally, any words of wisdom for the UK masses as we approach Digital Society's August Bank Holiday Showcase at O2 Academy Leeds?
I’m looking forward to being back in Leeds with Digital Society. Let’s do this!
Thanks again, looking forward to a superb night!
