2011 was a phenomenal year for you. Pick some highlights?

The biggest moment for me in 2011 is the entry in the DJ Mag top 100 on #24, but the year 2011 was also the year for my first #1 spot on Beatport and my first time playing at Sensation White. And not to forget, my collaboration with Tiesto.

What is the biggest thing you have planned for 2012?

A new collaboration with Tiesto and a lot of big festivals playing Mainstage.

You’re becoming a regular Gatecrasher, with a return to Birmingham planned. And also at Bed in Leeds?

Yeah I have a make up date planned for Birmingham on the 6th May because I’ve missed the last edition, and looking forward to Bed in Leeds on 8th April.

What can we expect from your sets?

An energetic Hardwell set with lots of new material. Total madness is my planning for Bed!

You premiered your anticipated new Visual Concept Show at Energy. What was the response?

I got a lot of positive reactions. Everyone loved it and for me it was a great experience, I would love to do this more often.

Do you think it is important for DJs to have a fully integrated stage show like pop and rock stars?

It’s not really important, but it sure gives an extra touch. Eventually it’s all about the music.

Still no album plans?

Yes I have plans, but that’s for the future, in a year or two.

Any new tracks out in 2012?

Yes, a lot. Keep watching twitter and all will be revealed!

You toured and recorded with Tiesto last year? How was that?

It is not only an honour to work with such a great artist; there is also a lot to learn from him and you get a lot of experience from working together.

Any plans to work with him again?

Yes, this year.

Any other big names you’d like to work with?

Not at the moment. I’m focusing on my own material now.

You are so busy – do you still plan to keep your production output so high?

Yes definitely, I will always have, find and make time to make music.

Creamfields and Sensation were two huge events you played in 2011… what can top that in 2012?

Big festivals. I really look forward to playing Ultra Mainstage in Miami.

You’ve been nominated for the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ at the International Dance Music Awards – how does that feel?

That feels amazing! It’s always nice to hear that you’ve been nominated, that means my work is appreciated.
