Birmingham's food and drink offering got a whole lot tastier last week, thanks to the opening of new landmark dining quarter Spiceal Street, at the iconic Bullring shopping centre.
Featuring three brand new restaurants, Spiceal Street is the latest addition to the St Martin's Square area - which already boasts five restaurants including Jamie's Italian.
From the chic colonial splendour or Browns Bar and Brasserie to the Thai banquet-style ChaoBaby and the locally run handmade burger Co, the new restaurants offer a great choice of dining options for all levels of occasion and appetite. And with cool entertainment, a buzzing atmosphere and late night opening hours, this slick new destination makes for an ideal evening out that further enhances Birmingham's thriving nightlife.
Spiceal Street opened at the end of November with an extra special launch event that saw VIPs party into the night at a glamourous party hosted by ChaoBaby. The opening celebrations also featured a spectacular performance by Leamington Spa based dance theatre company Motionhouse, following a partnership with Arts Council as part of the Arts Nation initiative. 'Traction' saw a collaboration between human and machine, whereby three diggers and six dancers united in a mesmerising dance routine.
But of course, Spiceal Street's food was the main attraction - with ChaoBaby and handmade burger Co. opening to the public for the first time and many of the other restaurants in the area offering visitors samples of their food. Jamie’s Italian also hosted a hog roast on their terrace whilst Browns Bar and Brasserie held a champagne afternoon tea party outside the restaurant.
Tim Walley, General Manager at Bullring, commented: “As a shopping centre we’ve always excelled in our fashion offering and felt that now was the time to match this with our catering offer.
“We’re pleased that we’ve been able to welcome two new restaurants to the city as well as offering handmade burger Co. a location for their flagship restaurant.”
