The Blues Kitchen in Manchester always has some incredible events with something on every night of the week. And while the venue specialises in soul, roots, and blues, the venue also books plenty of brilliant hip-hop events.

With music every night, we’d be here all day introducing all their events to you, so we’ll be focusing on hip-hop.

The first event we want to shine a light on is Devin The Dude. starting out as a member of the Odd Squad, the Houston rapper is probably best known for his bangers ‘Doobie Ashtray’, ‘Lacville '79’, and ‘What a Job’. A legend of hip-hop, particularly the underground scene, Devin’s music covers topics including sex, relationships, weed, and beer but is also often light-hearted and comically self-deprecating. He plays Blue’s Kitchen on Wednesday 28th February 2024 with support from The Bluntskins. Secure your tickets for that show below.

Next up, UK hip-hop group The Four Owls return with their raw, head-bobbing boom-bap instrumentals and undiluted lyrics. The Four Owls are Fliptrix, Verb T, BVA, and Leaf Dog, all High Focus Records bosses. Having racked up millions of views on their music videos on YouTube and working with legendary names like DJ Premier, this gig will be perfect for anyone who loves the old-school vibe. Grab your tickets below.

Then, Slum Village will make the venue shake with their Detroit hip-hop. With bangers like ‘Selfish’ with Kanye and John Legend, ‘Climax’, and ‘Fall In Love’, their brand of funky, soulful, old-school hip-hop has gained them over one million monthly Spotify listeners. Original member T3 is joined by producer Young RJ for a dose of nostalgia at The Blues Kitchen.

Socially conscious rapper Akua Naru arrives with her profound lyricism over boom-bap, soul, jazz, and blues-inspired instrumentals on Wednesday 24th April. Inspired by 90s icons like Lauryn Hill, Naru’s lyrics focus on the experiences of black women after noticing a severe lack of black women's voices in hip-hop. Poetic, spiritual, and intellectual, Akua Naru will surely smash her set.

The last event we want to highlight is New Wave Magazine Presents: Xscape. Arriving on Thursday 25th April, Xscape showcases emerging talent in the rap arena. FelixThe1st and Downtown Kayoto headline with a fusion of hip-hop, grime, trap, and more. Joining them is Cityboymoe, who Stormzy chose as his top artist pick for the future, and Namani to complete the lineup. If you want to discover the hottest sounds of tomorrow today, secure your tickets for this one below.
