Jazz icon Kamasi Washington comes to Liverpool

Jazz pioneer Kamasi Washinton debuts live incarnations of his transcending sound in the city of Liverpool as he comes to the O2 Academy this June.

Collaborating with the likes of Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar can expect to see an artist being pushed to the sidelines, but not when that artist is Kamasi Washington - one of the most prolific jazz musicians of the 21st century and responsible for some of the most interesting and unique tracks thanks to his contributions.

Although Washington's offerings to other projects have been seminal, it's his solo venture that really delves into the undiscovered realms of jazz. His 2015 release The Epic is just that, a near three-hour triple disc journey that transcends the genre and manages to still engage after literal hours of mind melting saxophone trills. 

Having just dropped 'Truth', an intense brand new thirteen minute track to go alongside a just as intense, visually stunning film by A.G. Rojas, Washington has announced the forthcoming release of his new EP, Harmony of Difference. Kamasi Washington comes to the UK and will be performing O2 Academy Liverpool, bringing the rare and special experience of the live entity of his music to the city.
