The Warehouse Project celebrates 20 years with free outdoor exhibition

The Warehouse Project marks its 20th anniversary with a free outdoor exhibition in Manchester celebrating two decades of club culture, photography and visual art that have defined it.

Date published: 6th Jul 2026

For two decades, The Warehouse Project has defined Manchester nightlife, and as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, they are bringing their home city a free, multi-sensory outdoor exhibit that chronicles the people, places and moments it has helped shape.

Taking over Spinningfields and St. John’s, and opening on Thursday 16th July and running for eight weeks, the exhibition brings together photography, visual art and rare archive material charting WHP's journey from Boddingtons Brewery to Depot Mayfield, alongside the UK premiere of a new short film celebrating two decades of Manchester rave culture.

Below is a sample from the exhibition, taken from Jamie XX's Warehouse Project show in 2021.

The exhibition features 20 works spanning 35mm photography, Polaroids, contact sheets and never-before-seen archive material, documenting everything from euphoric dancefloor moments and landmark performances to intimate backstage scenes captured over the last two decades.

The collection brings together work from photographers Sebastian Matthes, Shaun Peckham, Jody Hartley, Anthony Mooney, Rob Jones, Pippa Rankin, Sophia Carey and Harriet Bols, alongside artwork from the designers and studios - including Studio Moross, Paul Hemmingfield, Katie Hamill, and Joab Harrison - responsible for shaping WHP's instantly recognisable visual identity.

Just a short walk away, The Green at St. John's will also host the UK premiere of Twenty Years in Manchester, a new short film directed by Leigh Powis. Screening daily for two weeks from 16th July, the six-minute film reflects on WHP's journey from its early days at Boddingtons Brewery to its current home at Depot Mayfield, celebrating the shared memories and community that have grown around the series.

20 Years of The Warehouse Project opens on Thursday 16th July. Entry to both the exhibition and film screenings are completely free!
