Date published: 24th May 2021

Pie Radio are set to host their official Manchester lockdown lifting party on Sunday 27th June ? a battle between Amapiano and Afrobeats.

Following on from the success of their Christmas Amapiano vs Afrobeats Livestream, this event is set to be bigger and better than ever before, taking on the inevitable energy from post-lockdown Manchester party-goers.

Taking place at BEC Arena at Trafford Park (M17 1SN), this party is an all-day, all-night event, running from 3 PM all the way to 2 AM.

The event follows the epic rise of afro-centric music in the UK over the past few years, which has been aided particularly by social media such as TikTok, which has made the music and dances more easily accessible to listeners around the globe.

Artists such as Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage have become household names in the UK music charts, as Afrobeats has continued to establish a firmer dominance throughout the country over the past decade.

On the other hand, Amapiano has been on the rise more recently. Stemming from Afrobeats, the genre is a blend of house and Afrobeats, originating from South Africa. Artists include Kabza De Small, Sha Sha and Mr JazziQ, to name a few.

Though the main feature will be the battle between the Amapiano and Afrobeats representative teams, the night will also feature a variety of genres, including Afrohouse, Tribal and Soulful House.

The event will feature a multitude of renowned DJs, including Boogz, Chief, TOOJ, Maniaco17, DJ Skayy, G2, DJ Sammy V, Sskes, JessetheDJ, Mixrmoe, Mixolis, Terrie T, Toots and Ofishal Xavier.

As well as music, the event will also give attendees access to live dance performances, food stalls and BBQ, table service, funfair rides and games, and much more...

This party is limited to over-18s only, however, those below this age still have Pie Radio?s sixth birthday concert to look forward to (date TBC), featuring A-92 and Comfy amongst a variety of other musical talents.

Tickets are currently on sale on Skiddle, with the first release going for £10, increasing to £15, £20, and then £25 depending on availability ? so make sure to get yours ASAP!
