London Reggae & Food Festival returns next month for Jamaican Independence special

London Reggae & Food Festival returns this August with Saxon Sound, Seani B, and Caribbean street food, all for a huge celebration of Jamaican Independence.

London's biggest celebration of Jamaican Independence is returning to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this August, bringing a fyah day of reggae, dancehall, and Caribbean street food, turning the capital into the Zion of music and food. 

Taking over Riverside East on Saturday 8th August, the London Reggae & Food Festival marks Jamaica's 64th year of independence with an all-star soundtrack led by legendary sound system Saxon Sound, BBC Radio 1Xtra favourite Seani B, DJ Nate & English Fire, Izzy Bossy, Shayna Marie and more, alongside some of London's finest Caribbean food traders.

Few names have shaped UK reggae culture quite like Saxon Sound. Formed in South London in the late 1970s, the pioneering sound system helped launch the careers of artists including Tippa Irie, Smiley Culture and Maxi Priest, earning legendary status through decades of clashes, festivals and club nights.

Joining them is BBC Radio 1Xtra's Seani B, whose influence on reggae and dancehall has made him one of the UK's most respected selectors, alongside high-energy sets from DJ Nate & English Fire, Izzy Bossy, Shayna Marie, Vybz-SR, and Tuggzy Onpoint.

Away from the music, festivalgoers can tuck into authentic Caribbean street food ranging from jerk chicken and curry goat to patties, plantain and rum punch, all served up against the backdrop of Riverside East's outdoor space overlooking Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
