Doom composer Mick Gordon to headline Manchester’s 2027 RADAR Festival

The video game legend will headline Manchester’s RADAR Festival next year.

If you didn't bag tickets to Manchester's RADAR Festival 2026, then don't panic; as announced, to headline RADAR Festival 2027 is none other than the iconic Doom reboot score composer Mike Gordon. Known for being a genre-busting festival, every year, the 2027 edition will take place from Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st August. 

Charge of the ferocious industrial metal soundtrack for 2016’s Doom reboot and the 2020 sequel, Eternal, Mike Gordon will debut ebut a "world-first" show.  

"This isn’t a DJ set, and it isn’t a tribute act. It’s the actual composer, the actual score – the riffs played properly loud in a room that can withstand all the ripping and tearing. Mick has never performed this music live like this [before]."

"Mick Gordon is the composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and acclaimed sound designer who turned Doom‘s soundtrack into one of the most instantly recognisable pieces of gaming music ever produced,” reads a press release. “At RADAR 2027, Mick will bring the Doom soundtrack to the stage for the first time, featuring the Doom Machine (his custom Doom instrument), with a full live band and an orchestra for good measure."

Speaking about his ferocious, percussive Doom score, Gordon explained: "Doom is a very visceral, in-your-face, gut-punching experience. It’s primal. There’s something instinctual about drums, and I like drums that hit just as hard as the Doom Marine. When you’re playing the game, the flow is very important. The music supports this flow with a solid groove and the percussion plays a very important role in propelling the on-screen action."
