Damon 'Dam-Funk' Riddick is regarded by many as the physical embodiment of Funk itself. The immensely talented musician, vocalist, and producer has spent the past decade releasing Funk records with respected Los Angeles label, 'Stones Throw Records', also home to the likes of Madlib, Madvillain, and label head Peanut Butter Wolf

Nurtured by his parents, Dam-Funk became entoiled in the world of music from a very young age. Having mastered the drums and the use of drum machines by his teens, he began to attract attention and a chance encounter led to an apprenticeship with one of the 1970's most prolific and successful funk producers and songwriters, Leon Syllvers III.

His development continued and by the mid-'90s Dam's skills were in high demand. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, from Mack 10 to Snoop Dogg, who he worked alongside to produce California based duo 7 Days of Funk's eponymous debut studio album, 7 Days Of Funk

The funk maestro who is partly responsible for reinvigorating the genre and sound now so present in the mainstream, through running the Funkmospehere parties in L.A. over the past 13 years, has recently released a brand new EP. Following on from the free release STFU is 'STFU ll', a soothing 38-minute offering, brimming with funky basslines and 70's inspired synths.

Dam-Funk will appear at Band On The Wall on Friday 12th July, with support from Manchester based, spiritual jazz duo Skeltr.
