An amazing atmosphere at a super friendly festival in its first year. The positives far outweigh any of the little negatives.
Positives: The venue... WOW. An eclectic arrangement of musical styles, with smooth handover of different artists resulting in constant music from start to finish. An excellent supply of beers and ciders, and the encouragement to try a variety of different ales in 1/3 pint measures. The food vendors ideal, all 'home' made, excellent selection of savoury and sweet (homemade icecream) and the beetroot breadrolls yummy x Seating comprising of comfy sofas, benches and straw bales perfect. And the children were extremely well catered for, a giant bouncy castle style slide, giant straw bales and hula hoops. Along with lessons in hula hooping and Parkour. The campsite was beautiful, plenty of space and drinking water available. AND FREE... Cars were allowed next to tents ( with 4 children a massive help as we have so much stuff!)
Negatives; The toilets were only cleaned once a day, they needed to be either cleaned more often or more provided (but as festival tickets were so cheap and camping was free it was acceptable),and it didn't help that the caravans and motor homes were emptying their disposal units into the festival portal loos! Lighting wasn't brilliant on first night but this was addressed on the second night, perhaps a little more light in the toilet areas. Lack of programme information, a blackboard was provided next to the stage marquee for band line-ups and times (also on-line), but additional signs at the entrance to the festival field would have been helpful. The only other thing really was smoking near the stages. But overall a fantastic relaxing weekend with 4 children. Highly recommended

Amazing first festival, huge respect to all those involved and working on this. Brilliant vibe and family friendly. Low cost for what you get. Will be attending again, possibly one of the best views you'll ever get at a small festival.

Headland Festival venue information

We are not just a beer festival...

…but we have got over 20 real ales and ciders for you to try. These have been hand picked by Sensei to represent the full range that British brewing has to offer. We're having a tasting session on Friday night where we give everyone 3 x 1/3 pint of whatever they want so you can explore the world of flavour that's out there with us. There'll be tasting notes and beer nerds galore so even if you've never experienced the delicate art of balancing hop with malt, sweet with bitter and getting the alcohol level right, there will be someone there who can talk you through it. Fair warning though – it is truly addictive and you may have something fascinating to discover in every part of the country once you know what to look for. All I'm saying is don't blame us when it happens ;-)

We are not just a music festival...

...but we have got 3 days of excellent performances lined up for your enjoyment. We've got spoken word, DJ's, bands, solo performers, acoustic artists and visual delights too. All drawn from the area, all bringing their interpretations of music from here and around the world. There will be a more intimate stage in the marquee that will be used during the days and then our main stage takes over procedures from teatime up till midnight.

We aren't just somewhere to take time out...

...but we have got camping space, play areas, children's activities, walks to local beauty spots and access to some of the finest pubs in the area. We really encourage you to take the time to see as much as possible, get out and experience the wonder of the Yorkshire Coast. We can't wait to see the pictures you've taken, the art you've made and be part of the memories we will share. The camp fire will be lit each night providing the perfect place to sit and reflect on what's really important.
