Review of NEW YEARS EVE - YORK - 80s, 90s, Disco, Funk, Indie
Absolute pile of rubbish!
The place is closing down in a few days. No one was in there so ended up going to Flares. We were ripped of with ‘tickets in advance’. They bloke on the door was letting people in for free!!

I also attended the King No One gig as a father to a support band members. I absolutely agree with and sympathise with Molly who had to stand in line in the cold and rain. I myself missed the first 10-15 minutes of my sons set because they had to start playing before people got in! Flooded sold over 100 tickets and many friends were still stood in a queue and missed their performance. The one person allowing entry took far too long to check people in and what appeared to be a couldn’t care less attitude towards paying customers. And it seems their poor attitude extended to Molly and her friend. Fibbers have quite rightly been campaigning to save music venues in central York for young people to enjoy. That’s all well and good as long as they show some respect for their young paying customers..

I attended the King no-one event. We were told on our tickets that the doors opened at 7:00. We arrived at around 7:15 to a huge queue and the doors we not opened until 8:15 leaving us outside in the rain for an hour. We are all let in in groups, with one member of door staff physical grabbing me and my friend and pushing us into a large group of people. When we said we could move due to all the people behind us we were told we wouldn’t be let in. After finally getting in we had missed the first support act but we were just happy to be inside. There was no re entry and after a while the overcrowded room got very warm so we stood at a fire door to get some air. At this point a member of the bar staff came up to us and said “out”. He accused us of being too intoxicated despite us both only having 2 glasses of water as we were both 17. When we asked if we could wait in the entrance to arrange a lift we were told that we had to completely leave the premises as we were in an “unauthorised area” however there were no signs that stated this. After being kicked out onto the streets we missed lots of the event we had paid for. Thankfully there were 2 males on the door that allowed us to wait inside. I have never had members of staff treat me in this way. What we saw of King no-one was amazing but the treatment from the staff was disgusting.
