Razorrawks & Marx | Slummy Eve | I Murpheous on Wednesday 4th July 2018
Proudly wearing his influences on his sleeve, Razorrawks is a Northern rapper hailing from Preston, Lancashire. Unmistakably identified through his original delivery, regional dialect and Northern pride, he combines inspired lyrics over well produced beats drawing influence from all that surrounds him. Due to his eclectic approach comparisons have been made with the likes of John Cooper Clarke, Jamie T, Guy Garvey, The Prodigy and more.“…it’s like Stereo MC’s meets The Stone Roses with a whole bunch of something I’ve not heard before” – Festival Organiser. As well as regular performances at his own Vocal Harem nights, 2015/16 saw him support B. Dolan, MC Tunes, Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon, and Andy Cooper... He also made his debut appearance at the Beatherder festival, plus many more, while 2017/2018 sees him on tour. Joining him for this double headliner we’re pleased to welcome best Rap/Hip-Hop/Dance Act at O'Rileys Awards Show 2017 Marx to the Old Courts! Since making his first rap demos in his bedroom aged nine he’s gone on to persue music full time and gained a reputation as possibly the hardest working rapper in Hull, having performed well over a hundred gigs at the tender age of twenty. In his time as a hip-hop artist, Marx has rapped alongside legends such as Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One and toured throughout the UK with the likes of Merkules, Shotty Horroh, MC Devvo, Sumo Cyco, Donald-D, Onyx, Beans on Toast, and many others.
Support on the night comes from Slummy Eve: If you like Sleaford Mods, The Streets and old school dance music- you'll love Slummy Eve. Slummy Eve is words and slinky dancing from Wigan’s own Louise Fazackerley and Yorkishire girl Toria Garbutt with synth collabs from Lo-Five, Lee Affen and Sonny. Both Toria and Louise are fresh from supporting none other than Dr John Cooper Clarke. Matt Abbott describes Toria as “the lyrical machine gun. Punk in its purest form” while Dr JCC says of Louise: “a class act…I love her, you will too”
Opening the night we’re pleased to welcome back ‘I Murpheous’. After a mesmerising set at our first Green Room Session a few months ago, he drew comparisons to Wirral based performance poet Jegsy Dodd.
