Bodys presents: Sam Airey + Mally Smith on Thursday 5th March 2020
8.30pm Mally Smith
Mally Smith is a singer-songwriter from Boston, now living in Edinburgh. Reminiscent of Shawn Colvin or a young Joni Mitchell, Mally combines tasteful guitar and poetic lyrics with a clear voice that will capture your heart. Accompanied by musicians, Mike McKenzie and Evan Hamilton, the songs strike a grittier chord, the trio offering depth and edge to Mally’s songs. Listen to her at http://mallysmith.com/
9.15pm Sam Airey
Raised in rural North Wales and now residing in Leeds, Sam Airey specialises in the composition of melancholy - a sense of nostalgia, homesickness tinged with grief, and a longing for the past. Sam's 2017 debut album ‘In Darkened Rooms’ propelled his music into the streaming stratosphere with over 6 million listens alone on ‘Stars’ (listen here https://song.link/gb/i/1240404570). In many ways a songwriter’s songwriter, his musical admirers include Midlake, Damien Jurado, Sharon Van Etten, Daughter and Anais Mitchell (many of whom he has gigged with), in addition to tours with Matthew & The Atlas, European festival appearances, and continued support from BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music.
