Bloody Awful
Having seen other stage hypnotists in the past, four including Paul McKenna, my partner and I were looking forward to a good night of entertainment, we were however left wanting and very disappointed.
As the last in, I took my seat and my significant other said "fancy a drink?" Off he went to the bar to be told "The bars closed, we're only opening in the interval". He came back empty handed and sat down to watch another chap have a go. Then another, then another... They could have made a fortune.
The hypnotist had the stage presence of a Butlins redcoat. The grace ad charm of a traffic warden. About as much command of the room as a very well behaved three year old. Now we've seen this kind of show before so we know there was no preparation or warming up of the audience, just a token gesture. The idea is that you get the audience used to acting on suggestions - they're supposed to do what the act wants them to do. It was all very rushed so when he asked for volunteers to fill his dozen chairs, and he only got ten, the die was cast. And I don't believe any of the 'volunteers' on the stage were actually in any sort of deep trance state at all, they just looked as bored and confused as the rest of the audience. The blonde was p*ssed, the bloke in the middle just sat there and one by one, they went back to the audience. They were down to five before we made our deciding move.
30 minutes in we did actually lose the will to live and walked out. Disgust for what it cost and sheer boredom after less than an hour. "Sod it", we thought and went home early.
