Are you a professional musician or is that your aspiration? What does this actually mean in 2022 and beyond and how do we achieve it?
In this, the first of our The F-List Talking About series of events this year, F List Director Sophie Daniels will lead a part-seminar and part-discussion session with her In The Blood coaching colleague Mo Cohen. The session is designed to help uncover how we think of ourselves, our careers in music, and how to reframe the conversation to help us move forward positively into the new year.
‘In The Blood’ is a small but growing team of expert coaches whose ethos is focussed on creativity, possibility and empowerment. They believe in reconnecting you with your purpose to make music or promote, empower or advance the creative practise of others.
They believe that it makes us human to create and that the arts have a purpose to express the human condition, to entertain and to help us understand ourselves and others.
They believe in the rights of artists to be recognised and rewarded for their art in a way that is appropriate. They also believe that, whilst the music ‘industry’ had changed beyond recognition following the demise of recorded music formats, (and more recently the challenges that Covid-19 has presented), nevertheless, there has never been a time when the creative arts are more important, to each of us individually and as a community.
In The Blood's passion is for creating connections and for working with creative people to help them transform and reframe stories that may be holding them back. By empowering all those within music to access and create their best work, we seek to nurture a vibrant and dynamic field of creative endeavour. Whether that work be writing and performing songs, teaching or researching music, or promoting, empowering and leading others.
They believe in inclusivity, equality, compassion and empowerment and we work with people who are committed and passionate about what they do and who want to find a way to do the best work they are capable of. With a desire to create that is in their blood.
The F-List for Music is the first directory of its kind to feature up-to-date information on UK-based female and gender expansive musicians, songwriters, and composers. However as a not-for-profit organisation with a board of 12 women from all genres of the music industry, over 70 Social Media Ambassadors, a growing list of partnerships with esteemed music industry organisations and over 5,000 female musicians already listed in the directory The F-List is not just a list, it’s a growing community that can help transform the gender statistics of music in the UK. We have seen an unprecedented amount of awareness-raising in the last year within the music industry on the lack of diversity and inclusion, and with the announcements of many an event and festival line-up lacking in women featured, The F-List offers a tool to change that. https://thef-listmusic.uk/
