About

The Enchanted Gardens Light Trail made its debut last year and by popular demand is back again, but with a brand new and even more exciting design for this Christmas! State-of-the-art lighting effects will be installed throughout the Victorian Gardens, allowing visitors to wander through a magical backdrop of illuminated trees, discovering a trail of remarkable light art sculptures, low-level soundscapes, interactive illuminations and a specially commissioned light show set in the historic Bowl. If you thought last year's show was great, you will be absolutely wowed by what we have planned for this year!

FAQs

Dates:

2nd December to 31st December

The trail will be open daily, aside from Christmas and Boxing Day, with the last day being Saturday 31st December.

Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th December have been designated as being particularly suitable for the neurodiverse and those with special needs. These evenings will be less crowded and therefore generally quieter. The volume in any areas featuring music and sound effects will be lowered, and any flashing lighting effects will be switched off or reduced in intensity (please note that there will not be strobe lighting on the route on any evening. We have worked along guidelines on photosensitive epilepsy and are adhering to the industry standard of synchronising effects and locking the sequences to ensure that lights do not operate at more than 5 flashes per second).

Please see the sections below regarding Accessibility & free of charge Carer / Assistance tickets.

If the Enchanted Gardens Light Trail is for any reason cancelled, you will be notified and offered an alternative date, if available, or a refund.

If there is a UK Government instruction to close, due to lockdown or changes to Coronavirus regulations, all those with affected bookings will be contacted to offer a change of visit date or a refund. Please be mindful that legislation may change between time of booking and day of visit.

Inevitably bad weather can affect any open-air event. If we have to cancel the event as it is unsafe to proceed (for example high wind, heavy snowfall or icy conditions), visitors will be offered an alternative date. No refunds will be offered simply if the weather is inclement. If the event is cancelled by South Swindon Parish Council due to weather and visitors are not able to attend an alternative date offered, then a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Accessibility:

Enchanted Gardens Light Trail is an event presented within the natural landscape of Town Gardens. The trail around the Gardens is almost all on flat and tarmac surfaces however there may be some slight inclines and uneven surfaces along the route.

There will be accessible toilet facilities on site. Whilst every effort is made to make the trail fully accessible, by its very nature it will on occasion cover some difficult terrain with a number of varying gradients.

These areas can be particularly challenging during inclement weather. In these circumstances there will be additional steward support available for assistance. Should you require additional assistance during your visit with us, please contact us (in advance if possible) and we will endeavour to help with any additional requirements or information.
