Matt Joyce

Process and Play

Matt is a freelance illustrator based in the UK, specialising in murals. He enjoys telling stories through his art, whether it's on walls, packaging, clothing, cards, or the pages of magazines. His signature style comprises bold lines, shapes, and vibrant colours infused with energy, humour, and playful aesthetics.

His journey into the world of illustration has been influenced by a background in design and agency work, which has honed his technical skills and fostered a deep understanding of collaboration and ideation. Throughout his career, Matt has had the opportunity to work with clients of all sizes, helping to shape and bring their ideas to life.

Illustration is a means to tell stories and engage with the viewer. His work often mirrors the world around him, drawing inspiration from the lively interactions of people, the beauty of plants, and infusing his illustrations with depth and a connection to the shared world.

James Dovey

Finding Your Path

James is the Creative Director of Nightmode Studio, a collective that create immersive web experiences, specialising in 3D animation and virtual production.

Since leaving London and moving back to his hometown in Llanelli, James has been dedicated to applying his expertise in design and technology to make a positive social impact.

Last year he founded Blueprint, a community-driven incubator focused on local regeneration. Inspiring young people to get into the creative industry and solve the problems they face around them.

He’ll be sharing his journey of self discovery, navigating the challenges of an unconventional path, embracing uncertainty, and building a diverse skill set. Trying to answer the question... What kind of designer are you?
