Smile Festival on Saturday 22nd July 2017
Smile Festival is a music festival in support of The Smile of Arran Trust, a charity set up in memory of Arran Tosh. The charity aims to help children affected by brain tumours or brain cancer.
Those who knew Arran knew his love of music. He would often be seen busking in his local town of Sudbury, Suffolk to raise money for Cancer Research UK, a charity close to his heart. He was a cheeky chap who wanted nothing more than to help those less fortunate than him, all at the young age he was.
In June 2014, Arran went for his usual eye test, only to be told there was excess pressure behind his eyes. He was sent for an MRI scan which revealed Arran actually had a brain tumour. After an attempted operation to remove the tumour, Arran fell into a coma before sadly passing away on the 7th June 2014 aged 13.
The Smile of Arran was set up in Arrans name, to help fund brain tumour research and grants for young people and their families who are also suffering from brain tumours. To date, the charity has raised over £100,000 and helped children all over the country as well as introducing the Arran Grant. All of this because of the amazing support of the public.
Smile Festival is set to be on the 22nd July 2017 and will aim to leave everyone smiling, and although we want to raise awareness for the charity, we want to put on an awesome show for both Arran and the fantastic supporters of the charity. We hope this will be the first of many years to come...
