Introducing: What Does He Need? St Helens

Join us at The World of Glass to learn about a new project coming to St Helens, exploring how men and boys are shaped by and influence the world they live in, with Heart of Glass and collaborators.

If you work with or support men and/or young men and boys in Merseyside, or you’re an artist or professional interested in collaborative and/or community centred arts, we’d love to see you there.

What Does He Need? is a project by artist, writer and educator Fiona Whelan, theatre company Brokentalkers and Rialto Youth Project. The project exists at the intersection of collaborative arts practice, performance and youth work. It explores modern masculinity, how men and boys are shaped by and influence the world they live in and the many facets of the young male experience. The project aims to create significant public dialogue about the current state of masculinity working directly with boys, young men and those who support and influence them through creative processes and discussion about these themes.

The event will include a presentation by the artists and project team, sharing what’s happened over the past six years of the project in Dublin and how we plan to engage and build relationships with communities in St Helens. There will also be plenty of opportunity for discussion afterwards.

In a time when a spotlight is being shone on many patriarchal structures and male behaviours and attitudes, What Does He Need? is an urgent critical inquiry exploring how men and boys are shaped by and influence the world they live in.
