Shoal - Meet the Artist on Saturday 29th June 2019
Meet Louise who made the 100 glass fish installation. Learn how she creates her work & why she believes passionately in using recycled glass.
Local artist Louise Truslow will be using the dramatic backdrop of the Thames Estuary to showcase her latest exhibition of recycled glasswork. "Shoal" is an installation of around 100 glass fish, which will be displayed in the windows of the Foyer Bar of the Cliffs Pavilion. These will hang on almost invisible wires with natural light filtering through them, changing constantly according to the time of day and atmospheric conditions. Although Truslow has exhibited in London and overseas for many years, this will be her first exhibition in her hometown. This will be a double first, as the Cliffs Pavilion has not staged an exhibition like this before. The "Meet the Artist" event is an opportunity for people to learn about Louise's art and inspiration. You will find out how several hundred old bottles have been turned into fish. At this informal gathering you will be able to walk around the exhibition, chat to Louise and ask her questions about glassmaking. You can also enjoy the stunning sea views and get refreshments in the cafe if you wish to.
