Review of Shirley Dining Club.
Would you recommended: Yes
Good variety of food / drink options and good music too.
Come back to Shirley soon.
the food stalls were great as usual but the ticket system didn't work. we paid for tickets and had to wait for entry as there were too many people inside, and then watched people just walk in behind barriers, not through the entrance. the queues were massive.
It was great. If all of our party got in. We paid for four tickets in advance. Arrived half an hour apart and they wouldnâ??t allow them in even though we had pre ordered our tickets. They were told to wait in a queue which was not acceptable when people who hadnâ??t bought tickets were queuing also. Very disappointing and very badly organised.
Would you recommended: No
I think there were too many people there or the space was too small. The queues were ridiculously long especially for drinks. Food stalls were running out of food way before closing time.
People were entering the site because of huge gaps in the perimeter fence.
Itâ??s a great idea, I hope it comes back again but I hope itâ??s better organised.
Great even and fun for all the family, was definitely worth the day out
Paid to get in & saw loads of people walk through the gaps in the barrier without paying
Gemma Louise Alexander
Too many people there and no where near enough seating, and no under covered seating. Also the area wasnâ??t very secure people could easily sneek in without paying
Queues too long couldnâ??t get past no seating available for disabled people to sit down because you couldnâ??t push a wheelchair around so we left and went home
Overcrowded, 3 hours in and places had run out of key elements of their dishes. Queues for the drinks were ridiculous.
There were people just walking in, even though we had paid etc. Should not have had walk ins on the day. During Covid the booked session at other dining clubs worked well.
Great food, company and atmosphere
Poor control on the perimeters led to overcrowding and excessively long queues
tickets to get in however other people were just walking in between the barriers with no issues. The ques to buy the food were ridiculous and the prices were shocking for what we got. not impressed, the numbers needed to be capped massively. we were just lucky that the weather was nice and we were able to sit on the grass as we had no other choice.
Mr J Oreton
I can't comment as I paid for my tickets with skiddle but never got my email confirming and I got no tickets so I never got to enjoy the experience.
Won't book online again in case sane thing happens ??
Good food choices, family friendly event
Great time at the venue will come again!
Brilliant event with a great turn out - just needed better options for soft drinks.
Good vibes and food - great to get out ??
Fantastic event awesome good with beautiful music
Please make a return!
Great occasion on a lovely sunny afternoon. Was great being able to share good food with all the family - young & old - do close to home . Bouncy castle & bubble lady to entertain the children were popular with our little ones.
Only down fall was the cues for drinks was massive so was unable to have a drink and sadly the cheese cake stand sold out very early.
Lucky to have had good weather, there was less seating than I expected and no cover and we did see people walking in those gaps to get in having not paid for a ticket. Aside from that, good vendors ( could have had more the queues were large at some) and nice day out
Loved loved loved it, the whole family had a great day and there were some lovely people there both the staff and the other attendees
Bought tickets in advance, was told we had to queue up. A group in front of us got told by someone who worked there that they had a rush of walk ins do it was very busy. Got in, saw the queues and how busy it was and left straight away to eat somewhere else. Saw lots of people just sneaking in through the sides. I have been to digbeth dining clubs events a lot of times and this one was an absolute shambles. Such a waste of money. I won't be going back to this one.
We parked in Asda park gate as we walked through Shirley park we didn’t see any signage fortunately we knew roughly whereabouts we were going. Area looked well organised very pleasant day all in all
Excellent family event .. bar was very slow , having attended many similar events over the summer regrettably it was clearly an issue with the system . Writing down orders when someone is actually at the bar is frankly ridiculous.
Well attended event with good choice of food outlets although queues for drinks were off-putting. We didn't bother.
Fantastic range of food options, prices as expected for independents, tables provided but also plenty of floor space, easily accessible, opening hours allowed a flow of people so queues reasonable, fantastic day, please do it again… but with more soft drinks and dessert
Such a fab time and the food was just Lush!
Great day out
Awful experience. Couldn’t get in because it was one in one out due to being at full capacity in spite of us buying tickets. Due to being with 2 children under 2, we could not wait in a 75 yard queue.
Quite clearly saw an opportunity to get more money from people paying on the day and therefore not interested in honouring the people who purchased tickets.
Totally oversubscribed. Ridiculous queues. It’s wrong to sell tickets when you can’t get in unless you wait 3 hours. Would not attend again. Waste of £6 as I did not enter.
Excellent variety and choice of foods and drinks, only negative was no vegan desserts available. Venue was excellent and central to lots of people. Prices are average to going out to eat in restaurants and appreciate the food is cooked/served fresh so you expect higher prices but for a family it can be expensive but you can view the stalls on Facebook beforehand and take your own picnic if you wanted.
As the weather was nice it was busy and by 2pm there was a large queue and not accepting pay on door… maybe in future have pre paid tickets timed to allow more pay on door especially if weather nice as lots of people disappointed as you can’t really communicate beforehand
Great day out in the park!
Such a good vibe. Loads of people, weather was fab, food was delicious and music was good. Although there was a great turnout it never felt cramped, lots of space so venue was perfect
Good time. Could have done with more bars, too many queues and beer ran out.
The Pros : great wide selection of food traders, some new and some old. Lots to choose from.
The Cons : Incredibly poor security, the good people that followed the rules, queued up and paid on the door then they were allowed in (many were turned away). The not-so-good people just walked right through gaping holes in the barriers when the lack-lustre security wandered off.
Nowhere near enough seating, 3000 tickets were sold in advance of the event and there were possibly 20-30 bench tables to accomodate - nowhere near as well provided as similar sized events at Warwick Castle. The grass was wet and whilst the area was partly surrounded by banked areas that were good to sit on as they had dried in the sun, people were moved off thes areas with no real justifiable reason.
Real lack of entertainment, not the typical DDC atmosphere that you've come to expect.
Overall when you add it up, not somewhere that we would rush to go back to...
The weather was perfect and the organising was good. My husband and I attended and found the prices a bit high but portion. Sizes were adequate. For a family it would be quite costly especially if you wanted to try more than one vendor. We limited ourselves to one each but there were a few other choices that we might have tried of the prices were a bit lower
Good opportunity for families to go out and enjoy nice food
Great food and nice chilled atmosphere.
HAD TO QUEUE FOR 40 MINS TO GET IN , WHEN I SEEN PEOPLE JUST WALKING IN THROUGH THE STALLS , WHEN YOU WAITED IN THE QUEUE FOR FOOD OR DRINKS YOUD GET TO BE SERVED AND ITS SORRY SOLD OUT !! LOOK HOW BIG SHIRLEY PARK IS AND THIS VENUE WAS RAMMED INTO A CORNER OF THE PARK , SHAME BECAUSE IF IT HAD BIGGER FLOOR SPACE IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER , CONSIDERING IT WAS ONLY ON FOR 1 DAY TO RUN OUT OF FOOD AND DRINKS IS A BIT POOR .................. WONT BOTHER AGAIN ITS A GOOD JOB IT WASNT ANY DEARER TO GET IN OR ID HAVE WANTED MY MONEY BACK
Venue not big enough for the amount of people queueing. Ticket holders queueing with non-ticket holders did not make sense. In the end non-ticket holders were turned away. Luckily we had pre-booked. Queues massive to the bar. Queues massive to most stalls. Not enough tables for the amount of people. We went for the food & that was good for the ones we got to try-cheesecake, pizza, crepes & Bao buns, didn't get to try all that we wanted because the queues were too long. Also it was a very expensive 3 hours ( but I expected that). We went for the first time experience. It was only a 20min walk from our house. Overall, we can recommend & can't wait to give it another try, now we know what to expect!
Shirley dinning club was amazing plenty of choice for food and drink also i have a very sweet tooth so i am hooked on Urban cheesecake they are very nice guys.
Maybe just a few more benches to sit on.
hope there will be another one soon! I can't wait!
Need more seats
Lovely food, once you got served.
We arrived at 3.30 and the queues were huge- ended up waiting 45 minutes (there were three of us all at different vendors, all had the same wait).
Disappointed that the fencing was only at the front so people without tickets were simply walking round the back and entering for free.
Great event to meet up with friends.
Let far too many people in on the day - allowing people to pay on the door.
What’s the point in running a ticket only event if you are going to let hundreds of people in on the door? Was very disappointed. We left the event after 10 minutes. No where to sit and massive ques for food
Overall good. Food was excellent from sampled vendors.
