The Steel City presents: A fundraiser for Sheffield Young Carers

We proudly present a showcase of locally grown talent featuring some of the finest and newest artists from across the city. Coming together for one massive night in support of an amazing charity.

All profits will be heading straight to Sheffield Young Carers, an independent charity based in Sheffield since 1997. Find out more about their work here.

Performing on the night are...

A five piece hip -hop/funk/rock fusion from the musical melting pot that is the Steel City of Sheffield. Diverse in influence and style, yet an undeniably coherent force; they have been refreshing the Sheffield scene with their inimitable take on the hip-hop genre since 2010. From illustrious beginnings with major slots at 'Peace in the Park' and 'Y-Not' festivals, the band has gone forward to record and E.P and secure distribution with the City's hottest label - Itchy Pig Records.

Master of Ceremonies, Mr Mike Curran AKA 'Copius', a self-confessed southerner of six foot two, brings a big approach to his writing and performing. His commentary deftly swings from sunny scenes with mates down the park to weightier issues, always delivered with lubricious flow and acute rhythm.
Counterpoint to this is the oh so soulful 'Sista' Danae Wellington; gorgeous, smoky vocals alongside more than a modicum of rapping talent feel like a nod in Badu's direction. Just a nod mind!
Mix this with the Chili Pepper-esque licks and Rage inspired riffs of axe-man Mark Williamson; a hearty dash of deep-sea funk bass from Ed Chester and the SUPERhuman beatbox/drummer machine that is 'Unome' and you have a recipe for aural carnage unrivalled in these parts!

A five piece formed in 2011 consisting of Matthew Malone, Alex Wright, Harry Tate, Rob Jones and Rob Hughes.
"...glossy riffs, intricate grooves and razor sharp synths. Fun and frivolous, smart and subtle in equal measure. Clever boys" - Drowned in Sound
"...they throw themselves into their electronic, 80s influenced futurepop wholeheartedly and provoke a move towards the stage and a stampede through the door" - The Kaje
"Promising local's well worth checking out last years EP" - Counterfeit Magazine

Conceived at a carnival in central São Paulo, Jägerverb was exposed to the infectious grooves of rhythm and melody from the earliest stages of his foetal development. However, the child was not born on Brazilian soil. Instead, Jägerverb entered into the isolated civilisation of an unchartered island some distance from the North-West coast of France. Jägerverb soon became disillusioned by his company and surroundings after hearing rumours that the locals frequented bars and clubs offering exclusively commercial dance and drum and bass. But, by some fortunate coincidence, he became acquainted with a band of rebels dedicated to the distribution of house and techno .mp3's illegally imported from overseas. Jägerverb was educated by the rebels on the rich abundance of music available beyond the islands shores. He was taught of bizarre foreign instruments known as computers and synthesisers, the operation of which would allow him to mimic the musical grooves he so adored. And so Jägerverb plotted his mission to escape the entrapment of the island. Armed with a laptop and a bottle of elk blood infused liqueur, Jägerverb set to work creating grooves of his own.
