jana rush, Rian treanor, Lo Shea, Via App on Friday 24th May 2019
Through 2019 we are throwing a series of warm up parties as we move towards No Bounds 2019 in October. This is a very special Footwork and High Tempo workouts special!
JANA RUSH (Live)
Chicago born and raised, Jana Rush started DJing at the tender age of ten. She started producing just three years later, influenced by DJ Deeon, with whom she released with on Dance Mania in 1996. After taking a break from music, Rush re-entered the scene with 2016's MPC 7635 EP, released on Objects Ltd., receiving attention for her mind-bending drum acrobatics. She then kicked off Objects Limited’s 2017 year with her debut release, Pariah, an album rooted in Chicago's footwork sound but with a myriad of other influences, including as jungle, acid, soul, jazz, and house.
Her last album Pariah got the following accolades.......
'The footwork album of the year.' (Mixmag)
'Rush has maintained a quite incredible purity of expression.' (The Wire)
'...one of footwork's most exciting breakthrough artists.' (Resident Advisor)
'The way Rush is able to weave in-and-out of ghetto house, soul, acid, footwork and jungle modes is as impressive as it is effortless – Pariah should be heralded as an example of how it’s done.' (FACT Magazine)
'Spread across the album are various influences of Rush’s, from jazz and soul through to acid house and rapid-fire jungle (‘Frenetic Snare’ is an astonishing closer), folded in through expert sample use and a keenness to switch-up the rhythmic structures she's working with.' (The Quietus)
Via App has become a main ingredient amongst the pool of talent making noise in Brooklyn and the surrounding cities of New York. She has done this in a short period of time and is creating a sound all her own while doing so. Expect angular tones and her characteristic manic drum patterns. The occasional screwball samples are infused with clean production. Her style is hard, disruptive, and her approach to production intends to test ordinary listeners and DJs alike. This is a record made for the socially unhinged.
