La Rumba: DJ BORING, Manami on Friday 10th June 2022
*Ross From Friends is unable to make the show due to contracting Covid on the week of the show - please see La Rumba's page for more info.
We're back for one last blowout at Hope Works before the summer with the man from down under, DJ BORING, Manami, and some of our favourite Sheffield artists; Alex.Aubyn, DJ Malice, and MYNA, in Mesters.
DJ BORING A.K.A. Tristan Hallis could be the most ironically named performer today: energetic journeys into forgotten gems and future classics, nothing about what he does is boring. He inhabits a space where throwback trance sits comfortably with old-school house, and Belgium Techno syncs with rolling funk. He meets each mix physically with sweaty, infectious performances that are compelling to watch. In the studio, the producer has honed in on a contemporary sound paying homage to dance music's dense past. Whether its Detroit Techno-inspired or Chicago House layered with obscure Youtube samples, his productions are birthed in hardware and imbued with Hallis' energetic personality - humanity sorely lacking in many productions today.
Next up we have Manami who’ll be closing the show after Ross From Friends. The Bristol-based upcoming DJ, producer, and classically trained pianist born in Japan has been turning heads with her high energy sets drawn from diverse influences which have placed her on lineups at highly esteemed clubs like Warehouse Project, Motion, XOYO, and Phonox, and with her monthly radio residencies at Noods Radio and Worldwide FM.
Next door in Mesters we’ll be welcoming Mondo Radio for a room takeover with some of Sheffield’s most exciting talents. Alex.Aubyn, DJ Malice, and MYNA complete the lineup alongside La Rumba’s Román.
Music Genres: Deep House, Disco, Electronic, House, Techno
