Detroit Swindle, Alexander Nut, Gideon, Chris Duckenfield, Cain on Friday 23rd November 2018
YES YES YES!
We are very happy to present......
Since joining forces in 2011, Dutch duo Detroit Swindle (AKA DJs and producers Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets) has become one of the most talked-about names in house music. Though generally classified as a deep house outfit, their sample rich productions on their own Heist Recordings imprint include nods to a myriad of other styles – Chicago acid, vintage disco, soul, jazz, Motor City futurism, Afro-funk and much more. This subtle eclecticism is a by-product of their roots as crate-digging record obsessives and is even more pronounced in their DJ sets, which giddily join the dots whilst maintaining a sharp dancefloor focus throughout.
Eglo co-founder Alexander Nut has become one of the UK’s most celebrated DJs for a simple reason: he’s exceptionally good. It’s not just the breathtaking diversity of the music he plays that makes his sets so special – on any given day, you could hear hip-hop, broken beat, raging acid house, futurist techno, dusty disco, killer jazz-funk, jungle, dubstep, deep house, R&B or modern soul – but also his innate ability to rock a party with quality music that other DJs might ignore.
Over a career spanning nearly a quarter of a century, Gideon has dedicated himself to finding and championing the best in black music. In the process, he’s become one of the most sought-after DJs and selectors on London’s musical undergound, renowned for his ability to effortlessly join the dots between a dizzying array of styles, from deep house, Northern Soul, roots reggae and acid house, to gospel, disco and rare groove. His bulging CV includes a leading role in celebrated Glastonbury institution the NYC Downlow, a must-listen weekly show on Soho Radio, and curation of inspirational off-location Berlin party Absolution, which he co-founded to cater for the city’s musically discerning LGBT community.
Plus Hope Works resident Chris Duckenfield warming the valves!
